C.1       Project coordinator

Describe the coordinating institution/group:
The Austrian Partner Institution is the Institute for Thermodynamics and Energy Conversion (ITE). The Institute is within the faculty for mechanical and industrial engineering the centre of competence for the mechanical and process engineering aspects of energy technology.
ITE aims at offering high quality education both in fundamentals and application aspects of energy technology. Content and methods are guided by research and innovation context.
In research the ITE concentrates on selected topics which have a high relevance in the field of energy technology, while having a specific importance for the industrial and energy context in Austria.
ITE is interested in an intensive collaboration with the industry and maintains specific competences and know-how in the fields of analysis, simulation and testing methods (CFD, thermal simulation, circulation calculations, shock pressure calculations, …)
The staff consists of 12 people for research and teaching (7 professors and 4 research assistants and one external teacher).
There are two scientific departments in the institute: the Department for Thermodynamics and Thermal Engineering as well as the Department of Fluid-Flow Machinery. The three participants (Univ. Prof. Dr. M. Haider, Ao. Univ. Prof. Dr. A. Werner and Assist. Prof. Dr. H. Walter) in our team are from the Department for Thermodynamics and Thermal Engineering.

C.2      Project partners

Second Partner: 
The Bulgarian Partner Institution is Department of Mechanics, Machine-building and Heat Engineering. It is a part of the Technical University of Sofia, Faculty of Engineering and Pedagogy, based in Sliven.
Our Faculty is among the youngest Faculties of TU – Sofia. It celebrated its 25-th anniversary in October of 2006.
Young bachelor Engineers in Automatics and Electronics, in Electrical Engineering, Heat Engineering and Machine-building Engineering are educated there. The Faculty is authorized by the National Agency of Accreditation to educate Master Engineers in the above mentioned Engineering courses, as well as in Transport Engineering and Business Informatics.
The Department is authorized to educate Doctors in more than 10 areas.
The teaching staff of our Department consists of 19 educators. There are 2 Professors, 7 Assoc. Professors and 10 Doctors among them. The averaged age of the teaching staff is 40 years.
There are three scientific groups in the Department: research group in Mechanics, research group in Machine-building and research group in Heat Engineering. The three participants (Prof. Eng. Petar Stefanov Kostov, Assoc. Prof. Dr.. Eng. Kojcho Tonchev Atanasov and Head Assist. Dr. Eng. Neven Yordanov Krystev) in our team are from the research group in Heat Engineering. Only Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eng. Radostina Vasileva Petrova is from the Mechanics research group.

Third partner
The Romanian partner is the Transilvania University of Brasov one of the most important higher education institution in Romania, with a long tradition especially in various engineering specializations and also a large expertise in research field, participating with a team consisting of members from several departments in order to achieve an interdisciplinary input to the project. The departments involved are: Mechanics, Precision Mechanics and Mechatronics, Thermodynamics and thermal machines, Strength of materials and Chemistry, involving high qualified specialists both in academic and research area.
This way, the project can benefit of the infrastructure from all the important departments in the university, whose engineering departments are training specialists for more than 50 years, in mechanical, industrial, materials sciences and wood engineering with various specializations. The university is coordinating yearly around forty research projects at national and international level and is partner in many more. The university has several computer networks, research labs and develops collaborations with European universities and companies. Fourth Partner:
The Croatian Partner Institution: Department of Engineering Mechanics – Dynamics of Machines Chair. It is a part of the Faculty of Engineering.
Our Faculty is among the biggest Faculties of University of Rijeka. It celebrated its 45-th anniversary in year 2005. According to Bologna process our faculty performs undergraduate and graduate studies of mechanical, naval architecture and electrical engineering as well as doctoral studies of mechanical engineering and naval architecture.
The teaching staff of our department consists of 12 persons. There are 2 Professors, 2 Associate professors, 2 Assistant professors and 6 Assistants. The averaged age of the teaching staff is 35 years.

There are three scientific groups in the Department: research group in Structural Analysis, research group in Dynamics of Machines and research group in Solid Mechanics. All participants in our team are from research group in Dynamics of Machines.

Fifth Partner:
The Slovenia Partner Institution: Laboratory for Heat and Power at Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Ljubljana
University of Ljubljana is an institution with a very rich tradition. With its 56 000 undergraduate and post-graduate students participating in more  than 130  undergraduate and 110 post-graduate programs, it ranks among the largest universities in the world scale. The University of Ljubljana was established in 1919 on the foundations of a long- established pedagogical tradition.
Laboratory for Heat and Power cooperates with all Slovene thermal power plants, energy-intensive branches of industry, research institutes and government institutions. The main fields of research are strongly connected with problems inspired by the contemporary energy conversion systems, such as entropy generation identification, numerical modelling and analyses and optimization of complex energy systems, identification of fluid- and thermodynamic characteristics of complex flows by means of CFD calculations and development of thermo-economic methods for cogeneration systems.
The staff of our laboratory consists of one professor, two assistant professors, three assistants and two researchers.
