Accommodation, Medical Care, Catering
Accommodation at students' hostels is provided at a minimal
fare. Undergraduate and Ph.D. students who have both Bulgarian and foreign citizenship
pay only 30% of the annual fee.
The University has 15 blocks of students' hostels located
close to the main buildings of TUS, accommodating 6000 students and 1000 student
families. The campus is situated at the so called “Studentsi Grad” (Students’
Town), a 25-30 min. drive from the city centre. The Students’ Town has a well-developed
infrastructure of shopping centres, sports facilities, child-care establishments,
and entertainment spots.
All University students and its staff are entitled to
free medical care at the Students' Polyclinic, situated at the Students' Town.
The University also has a canteen for the University staff,
seating 1400 people. Another 8 small fast food restaurants can be found within
the University grounds. There are also 2 canteens where students can have lunch
and dinner at reduced prices. Students can also take their meals at the University
Staff Canteen.
Sports and Recreation
TUS has a Sports Complex, which offers an Olympic-size
swimming pool, 3 in-door and 2 open-air tennis courts, handball, football, volleyball
and basketball playgrounds and gyms, a gymnastics room, a fitness (aerobics,
calanetics), judo and remedial sports gym, small-size rowing canal and a sauna.

There are also two rowing canals available - the Iskar
Dam, 25 km far from Sofia, and, the Pchelina Dam, 55 km far from Sofia, as well
as a sailing and fishing base in the town of Sozopol.
The TUS has its own sea and mountain resort homes for
sports and recreation:
- in the town of Sozopol at the seaside with a yachting
club, accommodating 160 people;

- bungalow camp at the seaside in the village of Ravadinovo,
near the town of Sozopol, accommodating 80 people
- in the mountain skiing resort of Semkovo with 4 ski-tracks
and 6 ski lifts, in the Rila Mountain at 1800 m above sea level, 200 km from
Sofia, accommodating 160 people;

- at the Pchelina Dam with 20 yachts and
rowing boats, 56 km from Sofia, accommodating 120 people.
Besides the traditional winter and summer vacations for
lecturers, employees and students, these rest homes provide specially organized
holiday camps for their children as well as camps for university sports teams.
